All-MIAA honors announced for soccer and volleyball
The 2003 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association honors have been announced for soccer and volleyball.
Olivet College freshman forward Stacey Stickney (St. Joseph High School) has been named to the All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Soccer second-team. Stickney led the Lady Comets this year with five goals and three assists for 13 points.
Sophomore defender Samantha Dyke (Hudsonville High School) and sophomore goalkeeper Gretchen Ford (Harbor Springs High School) were selected to the coaches' honorable mention team. Ford played in 16 games and made 159 saves.
In men's soccer, junior Frank Barretta (Macomb Lutheran North High School), sophomores Will Drogt (Kewadin/Elk Rapids High School) and Gabe Pringle (Grand Blanc High School) and freshman Trent Bronsink (Byron Center/South Christian High School) earned coaches' honorable mention honors.
Barretta was credited with a team-high seven assists. Bronsink led the Fighting Comets with 13 points on five goals and three assists and Pringle was next with four goals. Drogt saw action in 11 games and made 81 saves.
Freshmen volleyball players Lori Graham (Alpena High School) and Julia Longman (Scotts/Climax-Scotts High School) received coaches' honorable mention honors. Graham, a middle hitter, had 159 kills and led the team with 57 blocks. Longman was the defensive specialist for the Comets and recorded a team-best 209 digs.
