Volleyball team loses to Calvin in three games
The Olivet College volleyball team lost to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Calvin College in three games tonight at the Calvin Fieldhouse in Grand Rapids.
The Olivet College volleyball team lost to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Calvin College in three games tonight at the Calvin Fieldhouse in Grand Rapids.
The Knights defeated the Lady Comets 30-5, 30-16, 30-18. Junior outside hitter Jamie Hutchison (Freeland High School) led the front row with eight kills. She was followed by freshman Lori Graham (Alpena High School) and sophomore Kendra Gilbert (Frankfort High School) with five and four kills, respectively. Freshman Sarah Geasler (Laingsburg High School) topped the team with 15 set assists. Freshman libero Julia Longman (Scotts/Climax-Scotts High School) recorded a team-best 15 digs to lead the defense. Freshman Danelle Snyder (Union City High School) had seven digs and Geasler had five.
The Lady Comets are next in action when they Olivet travel to participate in the Hiram (Ohio) College Quad on Saturday, Oct. 25. At 10 a.m., Olivet plays Ohio Dominican College, followed by a 2 p.m. match against Allegheny (Pa.) College and a 8 p.m. match against the host Terriers.
Next week, Olivet finishes up MIAA play at Albion on Wednesday, Oct. 29. On Saturday, Nov. 1, the Comets host Kalamazoo College at the Upton Center at 11 a.m.
