Personal bests achieved for UOlivet student-athletes at SVSU Holiday Open

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – A small contingent of student-athletes from The University of Olivet track and field teams began their indoor seasons today by competing at the Saginaw Valley State University Holiday Open.
FOR THE COMET MEN
- Freshman Tye Kirschner had a solid collegiate debut. He posted the second-best mark indoor mark in school history in the high jump at 6 feet (1.83m). A short time later, Kirschner ran the second-fastest time in school history in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.69 seconds. He also finished 14th in the long jump at 20 feet, 1-3/4 inches (6.14m).
- Also, in the 60-meter hurdles, sophomore Kem Blassingame posted a personal best and the third-quickest time in school history at 9.13 seconds.
- Sophomore Kyle Redd won his heat in both the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash with personal best times of 7.20 and 22.98 seconds. His time in the 200 ranks third all-time on the UOlivet indoor performance list.
- Sophomore Peter Moore moved up to fifth on the all-time performance list in the long jump with a personal best 21 feet, 4-1/4 inches (6.52m) leap. The mark placed him seventh of 39 jumpers in the event.
- Junior Charles Goldman recorded a personal best mark of 19 feet, 4-1/4 inches (5.90m) in the long jump.
FOR THE COMET WOMEN
- Senior London Eldridge matched her personal best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.73 seconds. Senior Emily Norkowski also ran in the race and clocked-in at 9.51 seconds to finish 14th of 29 runners.
- Norkowski finished eighth of 30 competitors in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 5-1/4 inches (5.01m).
- In the 200-meter dash, Eldridge and senior Morgan Jeffries posted personal best times at 27.23 and 27.53 seconds, respectively.
UP NEXT
- The Comets are now off until Friday, January 17, 2025, when they compete at the Central Michigan / Jack Skoog Open. Tentatively, field events are scheduled to start at 1 p.m., followed by running events at 2 p.m.
