HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Olivet College senior Gabby Jolliff and sophomore Emily Norkowski have been selected to the 2023 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Outdoor Track & Field Team. The All-MIAA team is comprised of the individual event winners and members of the winning relays at the MIAA Field Day.
Jolliff won the MIAA title in the pole vault with a winning mark was 11 feet, 2-1/4 inches. Jolliff captured the league pole vault at the third straight MIAA Championship, winning it also at the 2022 Field Day and 2023 Indoor Championship. She joins current Olivet assistant coach Michaela Kaliniak as a three-time pole vault champion.
"I am proud of how well Gabby competes every time she gets on the runway," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "She has been very consistent in pole vault as this was her third MIAA title. Gabby and her pole vault coach, Miranda Smith, have worked on all of the little things that Gabby has been able to put together over the last year to be the top vaulter in the MIAA."
Norkowski was first in the triple jump with a school record mark of 34 feet, 11 inches. She placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (15.98) and seventh in the long jump (15 feet, 7 inches). In addition, Norkowski ran a leg of the second-place 4x400-meter relay, which broke the school record with a time of 4:08.95, and fifth-place 4x100-meter relay (50.75).
"This was Emily's first season competing in the triple jump," stated Lutzke. "She has many steady improvements throughout the year. Emily loves to compete and when she is healthy, she is hard to beat. Her jumps coach, Michaela Kaliniak, did an outstanding job of getting Emily ready to compete at the MIAA Field Day."
