Norkowski leads women’s track and field team to fifth-place performance at MIAA Field Day
OLIVET, Mich. – Sophomore Emily Norkowski scored three top-two finishes to lead the Olivet College women’s track and field team to a fifth-place finish at the 2023 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day. The Comets were the host school for the championships inside the Cutler Athletic Complex and on the Kolassa Track.

OLIVET, Mich. – Sophomore Emily Norkowski scored three top-two finishes to lead the Olivet College women's track and field team to a fifth-place finish at the 2023 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day. The Comets were the host school for the championships inside the Cutler Athletic Complex and on the Kolassa Track.
- Olivet finished with 67 points. Hope College captured the league title with 240 points, followed by Calvin University, 166; Trine (Ind.) University, 106; and Albion College, 102.
- Norkowski won the triple jump with a school-record leap of 34 feet, 11 inches. She also placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.98 seconds. Norkowski along with junior Lily Connelly, junior Tonya Tepin and sophomore London Eldridge took second in the 4x400-meter relay, clocking-in at a school-record time of 4:08.95.
- Eldridge ran the second-fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles (season-best 1:06.56).
- Connelly placed third in the 400-meter run with a season-best time of 58.90 seconds.
- Sophomore Abbey Peters ran the seventh-best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 11:54.92.
- Freshman Natalia Johnson was eighth in the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 13.34 seconds.
- The 4x100-meter relay team of Johnson, Eldridge, Norkowski and Connelly finished fifth at 50.75 seconds, just three-hundredths slower than the school record.
- Senior Ashley Santo had the Comets' top finish in today's field events, as she was third in the discus throw with a personal-best toss of 129 feet, 10 inches.
- Sophomore Berniah Alexander finished seventh in the shot put (personal-best 37 feet, 2-1/2 inches).
- The Comets are planning to send a group of student-athletes to last chance meets over the next two weeks.
