HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Olivet College senior Gabby Jolliff has been chosen the 2023 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Indoor Most Valuable Female Field Athlete.
Jolliff captured the MIAA title in the pole vault at the 2023 MIAA Championship. Her winning mark of 10 feet, 10 inches tied the MIAA Indoor Championship record, also held by current Olivet assistant coach Michaela Kaliniak. Jolliff is the first female in school history to be a Most Valuable Indoor Track & Field athlete. She joins Sara Wegener in 2014 as the only track & field student-athletes to be a Most Valuable Track & Field athlete, as Wegener was the Most Valuable Outdoor Field Athlete.
"Gabby has made big improvements over the last year in the pole vault because of all the hard work she has put in at practice and competitions," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "Gabby is a leader on and off the runway. Each meet this year she made big steps in her development and we are looking forward to seeing what else she can do the rest of the year. It is rewarding as her head coach to see her development and improvement over the past few years working with our pole vault coach Miranda Smith."
