Women’s track & field team, three individuals earn USTFCCCA academic honors
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Olivet College women's track and field team along with three student-athletes -- Lillian Albaugh, Denver Orlando and Tyler Peck -- have earned academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2020-21 academic year.
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Olivet College women's track and field team along with three student-athletes -- Lillian Albaugh, Denver Orlando and Tyler Peck -- have earned academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2020-21 academic year.
Under the guidance of Head Coach Karen Lutzke, the Olivet women posted a 3.40 grade point average (GPA) to receive the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award. The criteria for this award is a 3.1 or higher cumulative team GPA through the completion of the most recent semester/quarter.
Albaugh and Orlando were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual award. The criteria for the award is 3.30 or higher cumulative GPA and met one of the following athletic standards, 1) must have finished the indoor or outdoor track & field season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. 2) Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams (one relay team per institution is eligible) as listed on the indoor or outdoor track & field descending order list on TFRRS.
A sports recreation management major, Albaugh was No. 12 in the shot put on the TFRRS indoor list. She is Olivet's indoor (13.65m) and outdoor (13.53m) record holder in the event. Albaugh is being honored with this award for a third straight year. She is a five-time USTFCCCA All-Region honoree.
An accounting major, Orlando was No. 39 in the pole vault on the TFRRS indoor list. He is the indoor school-record holder in the event at 4.34 meters.
An insurance and risk management major, Peck was a member of the 21st-ranked outdoor 4x400-meter relay. Their time was 3:16.00. Peck is a part of the school-record outdoor 4x100-, 4x400- and 4x800-meter relays, and the indoor 4x400-meter relay. He is now a three-time Individual All-Academic selection, as well as a five-time USTFCCCA All-Region honoree.
