UOlivet shuts out Manchester, 7-0, in spring opener

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The University of Olivet women's tennis began its spring schedule with a 7-0 shutout win over Manchester (Ind.) University this afternoon at the Minges Creek Athletic Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets won the only two contested doubles flights to pick-up the first team point of the match.
- Olivet then swept the four contested singles flights and earned default wins in the other two flights to post to 7-0 win.
FOR THE COMETS
- Freshman Amelia Girard and sophomore Rylee Lewis teamed for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
- Sophomores Kayden Alli and Madison Golden did not lose any games in a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles.
- Freshman Willow Evans and senior Amelia Guerra won by default at No. 3 doubles.
- Lewis posted a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles.
- Girard earned a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
- Alli won at No. 3 singles.
- Golden earned a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles.
- The default wins in singles were claimed by Evans at the No. 5 slot, and senior Alaina McCormick at the No. 6 slot.
