BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The University of Olivet women's tennis team won its first spring match of the season, 7-2 over Manchester (Ind.) University this afternoon at the Minges Creek Athletic Club.
- Final Score: Olivet 7, Manchester 2
- Location: Minges Creek Athletic Club; Battle Creek, Michigan
- Records: Olivet 1-3 overall, Manchester 0-5 overall
- The Comets swept the three doubles flights and won 4-of-6 singles to secure the 7-2 win.
- Both the No. 1 doubles team of freshmen Rylee Lewis and Kayden Alli, and the No. 2 doubles duo of freshman Madison Golden and sophomore Leah Hopkins earned 8-3 pro-set victories.
- The No. 3 doubles team of freshman Jordan West and junior Alaina McCormick claimed an 8-6 win.
- Hopkins coasted to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.
- Lewis posted a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles.
- Alli did not lose any games for an easy 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
- After losing the first set at No. 5 singles, Golden rallied for a 6-4 win in the second set. In the match tie-breaker, she won 10-4.
- The Comets travel to Franklin College next Saturday, March 2, to play the Grizzlies, starting at 1 p.m.
