Women’s tennis team starts spring schedule with 5-4 win over Cornerstone
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Olivet College women’s tennis team started the spring portion of its 2020-21 schedule with a 5-4 win over Cornerstone University today inside the Minges Creek Athletic Club in Battle Creek.

Records: Olivet 1-3 overall, Cornerstone 2-2 overall
- The Golden Eagles won two of three doubles flights to take the early 2-1 lead.
- The Comets went ahead 3-2 with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles.
- Cornerstone came back and seized a 4-3 lead with wins at the No. 2 and 6 singles flights.
- Olivet leveled the score at 4-4 with a win at No. 4 singles.
- The outcome came down to the No. 5 singles, where sophomore Ally Sears rallied to win her No. 5 singles match.
- Winning in doubles was the No. 1 duo of sophomore Makenzie Borg and senior Desiree Luque Pradas who posted an 8-1 win.
- Luque Pradas won 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles slot.
- Borg lost only one game en route to a 6-1, 6-0 straight set victory at the No. 3 singles position.
- Senior Julia Miklusicak claimed a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles.
- Sears lost the first set 7-5 before bouncing back to win the second set 6-0. She prevailed in the match-tiebreaker, 10-6.
- Olivet faces Lourdes (Ohio) University next Saturday, February 20, at Minges Creek. First serve is at 11 a.m.
