Women’s tennis team, seven players receive ITA academic honors
The Olivet College women’s tennis team and seven players have received academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in 2019-20.
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Olivet College women's tennis team and seven players have received academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in 2019-20.
Under the leadership of head coach Andrew DeBruyn, the Comets posted a 3.782 grade point average (GPA) to be named to the ITA All-Academic Team. This award is presented to any ITA program that has a cumulative team GPA of 3.30 or higher. In program history, Olivet has earned this honor 13 times, including the 10th straight season.
The seven players who are recipients of ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades are Makenzie Borg, Emily Foulk, Rose Kemmerling, Desiree Luque Pradas, Julia Miklusicak, Miranda Pier and Sydnie Weller. The criteria for selection is be a varsity letterwinner, have at least a 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for the academic year, and enrolled at present school for at least two semesters.
Pier and Weller earned this honor for all four years of their collegiate career. Foulk and Miklusziak are two-time recipients. The remaining three – Borg, Kemmerling and Luque Pradas, are first-time honorees.
In 2020, there were 1,058 NCAA Division III female student-athletes named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and 175 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
