Mann wins gold in 1,650 freestyle, women’s swimming team finishes sixth at MIAA Championships
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College women’s swimming team finished in sixth-place at the 2021 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships, hosted by Calvin University and at the Venema Aquatic Center in Grand Rapids. The Comets totaled 246 points. Hope College captured the MIAA team title.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College women's swimming team finished in sixth-place at the 2021 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships, hosted by Calvin University and at the Venema Aquatic Center in Grand Rapids. The Comets totaled 246 points. Hope College captured the MIAA team title.
- Freshman Jennifer Mann took first-place in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:38.36. The time is the second-fastest in school history.
- Junior Kayla Eichaker was 11th in the 50-yard freestyle with a personal-best time of 24.79 seconds. The time moves her up to sixth-quickest in Olivet history for the event.
- The 200-yard medley relay quartet of freshman Carly Braginton, Mann, Eichaker and senior Kea Kunz finished in fourth-place at 1:51.41, which is the fourth-fastest time in school history.
- The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Eichaker, Kunz, Mann and freshman Kinsley Noel touched the wall in fourth-place with a time of 3:41.55, which is sixth-quickest in school history.
- Kunz and sophomore Sarah LaFoe swam to 13th- and 14th-place finishes, respectively in the 100-yard breaststroke. In the preliminaries, both set personal-best times at 1:13.50 for Kunz and 1:13.93 for LaFoe. Kunz's time is ninth-fastest in Olivet history.
- Posting season-best times during the preliminaries were:
- Kunz: 50-yard freestyle (25.89) … also a personal-best.
- Noel: 200-yard freestyle (2:04.45)
- Erin Sanders: 200-yard butterfly (3:00.93) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:26.34)
- Jasmine VanAtti: 50-yard freestyle (28.27)
- Karley Wheeler: 200-yard freestyle (2:35.98)
