Mann’s school record in 200 breaststroke leads women’s swimming team in season-opener at Bethel

In the Comets’ first official meet for the first time in 328 days, freshman Jennifer Mann made a big splash in her collegiate debut.

ELKHART, Ind. – The Olivet College women's swimming team fell to Bethel (Ind.) College, 141-81, tonight in its season-opening meet at the at the Elkhart Aquatic Center in Elkhart, Indiana. In the Comets' first official meet for the first time in 328 days, freshman Jennifer Mann made a big splash in her collegiate debut.
- Mann won each of her three individual events. Her winning time in the 200-yard breaststroke, 2:26.13, broke the school record. In addition, Mann's 2:14:16 time in the 200-yard individual medley is third-fastest all-time and her 11:10.29 time in the 1,000-yard freestyle is fifth-fastest all-time at Olivet.
- Freshman Kinsley Noel also had a solid debut for the Comets. She took first-place in the 500-yard freestyle (5:53.68) and second-place in the 200-yard freestyle (2:10.23).
- Junior Kayla Eichaker was the runner-up in each of three individual events – the 50-yard freestyle (:26.50), 100-yard freestyle (:57.00) and 100-yard butterfly (1:04.54).
- The 200-yard freestyle relay team of senior Kea Kunz, Noel, senior Ally Smith and freshman Jasmine VanAtti was out-touched at the wall by .04 seconds with a time of 1:48.72.
- The 200-yard medley quartet of Smith, Mann, Eichaker and Kunz finished second at 1:58.70.
- The Comets are off until Friday, January 29, when they compete against Hope College and Albion College. The meet is at the Holland Aquatic Center, and is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
