Olivet men and women finish fifth and sixth at MIAA Swimming & Diving Championships
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have finished in fifth- and sixth-place at the 2020 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships. Calvin hosted the championships at the the Venema Aquatic Center.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming and diving teams have finished in fifth- and sixth-place at the 2020 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships. Calvin hosted the championships at the the Venema Aquatic Center.
- The Comets had 330 total points over the four days of competition.
- Freshman Takato Timmerman had the top individual at the championships, placing third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:05.94). He posted the top time in the preliminaries at 2:05.82, which ranks second all-time at Olivet.
- Senior Zach Meharg placed 12th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.77). In the preliminaries, he recorded the ninth-fastest time in school history at 2:00.02. Also in the 200 back, freshman Sebastian O'Leary was 16th (2:08.41).
- In the 100-yard freestyle, senior Eric Wood touched the wall in 47.01 seconds, the seventh-fastest time in school history.
- Freshman Jacob Ritter won the consolation heat to finish ninth in the 200-yard butterfly. His finals time of 1:58.67 ranks No. 7 on the all-time Top 10 list.
- Freshman Parker Brown scored 11th-place points in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:50.97. Junior Kolton Epplett was 13th at 18:28.96.
- The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Timmerman, freshman Carter Moore, Ritter and Wood placed fifth at 3:09.13, the seventh-fastest time in school history for the event.
- Senior Dalton Miner capped his Comet career with a sixth-place finish on the three-meter diving board, scoring 362.35 points. His total during the preliminaries, 399.05 points, moved him up to sixth all-time at Olivet for an 11-dive program.
- Olivet totaled 218 points over the four days of competition.
- Senior Amelia Tomalka placed 14th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:23.03).
- Freshman Sarah LaFoe finished 15th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:42.23).
- The 400-yard freestyle relay quartet of junior Keanalanimeleo'kekai Kunz, senior Katie Hansel, freshman Ally Smith and sophomore Kayla Eichaker was fifth at 3:43.93.
- Hansel time-trialed the 50-yard freestyle, and moved up to eighth on the all-time Top 10 list with a time of 25.49 seconds.
