Olivet men and women sit fifth at 2020 MIAA Swimming & Diving Championships
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams are in fifth-place after day two of the 2020 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships, held at the Venema Aquatic Center.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams are in fifth-place after day two of the 2020 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships, held at the Venema Aquatic Center.
- The 200-yard freestyle "A" relay team of senior Tom Decker, junior Kolton Epplett, and freshmen Chris Smith and Carter Moore placed fifth with a time of 1:30.73.
- Senior Eric Wood finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:40.17, which ranks No. 2 on the all-time top 10 list.
- Freshman Jacob Ritter was eighth in the 200-individual medley with a finals time of 1:57.07. During the preliminaries, he broke the school record with a time of 1:56.13. Also in the 200 IM, senior Zach Meharg was fourth in the consolation final to place 12th overall with a time of 1:57.94, which is sixth all-time at Olivet.
- Freshman Takato Timmerman swam the 50-yard freestyle in 21.34 seconds to finish in seventh-place. His prelim time of 21.31 seconds is No. 6 on the all-time top 10 list.
- The 400-yard medley "A" relay team of Meharg, Timmerman, Ritter and Wood clocked-in at 3:28.97 to place fifth. The time puts them sixth on the all-time top 10 list.
- Senior Dalton Miner finished sixth in the one-meter diving with 373.55 points. The total ranks No. 8 on the Olivet all-time list for an 11-dive program.
- Senior Abbie Slater scored 281.50 points on the three-meter diving board to place eighth.
- The "B" 200-yard freestyle relay team of junior Keanalanimeleo'kekai Kunz, junior Ally Smith, and seniors Amelia Tomalka and Katie Hansel had a time of 1:42.76.
- The "A" 200-yard freestyle relay team of freshman Sarah LaFoe, Slater, and freshmen Chelsea Perry and Karley Wheeler finished with a time of 2:02.74.
- The "B" 400-yard medley relay team of Tomalka, LaFoe, sophomore Kayla Eichaker and Kunz posted a time of 4:15.49.
- The "A" 400-yard medley relay team of Wheeler, Smith, Perry and Slater recorded a time of 5:44.66.
- The third day of the championships gets under way tomorrow with preliminaries at 10 a.m., and finals in the same events at 5:30 p.m. Events on day three are 200 medley relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke, as well as women's one-meter diving.
