Swimming & diving teams have 5-1 combined record in triple dual at Manchester
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams combined to post a 5-1 record in a non-conference triple dual meet today at the Strauss-Peabody Aquatic Center in North Manchester, Indiana. The Comet men beat all three schools, Manchester (Ind.) Anderson (Ind.) and Urbana (Ohio). The Comet women defeated Manchester and Urbana.

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams combined to post a 5-1 record in a non-conference triple dual meet today at the Strauss-Peabody Aquatic Center in North Manchester, Indiana. The Comet men beat all three schools, Manchester (Ind.) University, Anderson (Ind.) University and Urbana (Ohio) University. The Comet women defeated Manchester and Urbana.
- Men – Olivet def. Urbana, 203-27; Olivet def. Manchester, 202-27; Olivet def. Anderson, 162-105.
- Women – Olivet def. Urbana, 131-75; Olivet def. Manchester, 134-75; Anderson def. Olivet, 182-26.
- Olivet won nine individual events and one relay.
- Senior Eric Wood was a triple winner, as he touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.33), 100-yard freestyle (:48.33) and 500-yard freestyle (5:14.22).
- Senior Zach Meharg took the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke (:56.62) and 200-yard individual medley (2:04.60). He was second in the 50-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 26.54 seconds.
- Freshman Takato Timmerman swept the sprint breaststroke events, clocking-in at 59.69 seconds in the 100 and 27.11 seconds in the 50.
- Freshman Parker Brown out-touched junior Kolton Epplett for the win in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Both swimmers had season-bests at 10:44.89 and 10:44.95, respectively. Brown was second in the 500-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 5:14.25.
- Senior Dalton Miner claimed first-place in the one-meter diving 362.65 points. The aquatic center has only a one-meter board, so the divers did an 11-dive program.
- The 200-yard medley relay team of Meharg, Timmerman, freshman Jacob Ritter and Wood won in 1:39.21.
- Olivet's lone wins were by sophomore Kayla Eichaker in the 50-yard butterfly (:27.72) and 100-yard butterfly (1:04.30). She also placed second in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:28.98.
- The 200-yard medley relay team of junior Ally Smith, freshman Sarah LaFoe, Eichaker and senior Katie Hansel was second in 2:05.97.
- Senior Amelia Tomalka completed the 1,000-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 11:58.38.
- Hansel posted season-best times in the 100-yard backstroke (1:12.73) and 50-yard backstroke (:33.62).
- Senior Abbie Slater scored 307.60 points in the one-meter, 11-dive program.
- Olivet now prepares for the 2020 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships, which will take place Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 19-22, at the Venema Aquatic Center in Grand Rapids.
