Olivet in fifth-place after second day of MIAA Swimming & Diving Championships
The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams are in fifth-place after day two of the 2019 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships, hosted by Hope College and at the Holland Community Aquatic Center in Holland.

HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams are in fifth-place after day two of the 2019 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships, hosted by Hope College and at the Holland Community Aquatic Center in Holland.
- The 200-yard freestyle relay team of freshman Kayla Eichaker, sophomore Keanalanimeleo'kekai Kunz, and seniors Sabrina Butler and Delaney Graham was fifth with a time of 1:41.92.
- The 400-yard medley relay team of senior Samantha Butler, Kunz, Eichaker and Graham had the sixth-fastest time at 4:15.14.
- Junior Abbie Slater scored 302.90 points in the three-meter diving to finish in seventh-place. The total is the sixth-best score in school history.
- In the preliminaries of the 500-yard freestyle, Graham posted a lifetime-best by 10 seconds with a time of 5:41.67. Sophomore Amelia Tomalka had a personal-best time by five seconds and season-best by 16 seconds with a time of 5:42.03.
- In the 50-yard freestyle, senior Sabrina Butler, Kunz and freshman Ally Smith all had significant time drops, stopping the clock 26.25, 26.74 and 28.12 seconds, respectively.
- In the 500-yard freestyle, junior Eric Wood and freshman Cade Erickson were sixth (4:44.81) and eighth (4:48.93), respectively. Wood's time is fifth-fastest in school history. During the preliminaries, Erickson posted the seventh-best time in school history at 4:46.92.
- Junior Zach Meharg touched wall fifth in the consolation heat of the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:00.67.
- The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Erickson, Wood, freshman Zachary Knott and junior Tom Decker placed fifth with a time of 1:29.53.
- The 400-yard medley relay team of Wood, Knott, Meharg and Erickson finished fifth at 3:37.87.
- Junior Dalton Miner placed fifth in the one-meter diving with 337.20 points.
- In the preliminaries of the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Kolton Epplett had a personal-best by four seconds and a season-best time by 14 seconds with a time of 5:08.60.
- Knott narrowly missed making the finals in the 200 IM with a lifetime-best time of 2:06.09.
- In the 50-yard freestyle preliminaries, Decker and freshman Brandon Burks posted season-best times of 23.45 and 23.77 seconds, respectively.
- The third day of the championships starts tomorrow morning with preliminaries at 10 a.m., and finals in the same events at 5:30 p.m. Friday's events include the 200 medley relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and men's three-meter diving.
