Swimming & diving teams compete in 800 free relay at 2019 MIAA Championships
The first day of the 2019 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships is over for the Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams. The championships are taking place at the Holland Community Aquatic Center.

HOLLAND, Mich. – The first day of the 2019 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships is over for the Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams. The championships are taking place at the Holland Community Aquatic Center.
- In tonight's only final, the 800 freestyle relay, the team of juniors Eric Wood and Zach Meharg, senior Bryan Plesner and freshman Cade Erickson finished fifth with a time of 7:17.65. The 200 split times for Wood, Meharg and Erickson were lifetime bests, while Plesner's split was a season-best.
- Sophomore Patrick Gault time-trialed the 200-yard individual medley, and completed the race in a personal-best time of 2:14.71.
- In the preliminaries of the one-meter diving, junior Dalton Miner scored 358.40 points. The total puts him in fifth-place entering the finals tomorrow night.
- The only final tonight was the 800 freestyle relay, and the quartet of seniors Delaney Graham and Sabrina Butler, sophomore Amelia Tomalka and freshman Kayla Eichaker placed sixth with a time of 8:23.18. Graham's, Tomalka's and Eichaker's 200 splits were lifetime-bests, and Butler's split was a season-best.

- Day two of the championships gets under way tomorrow with preliminaries at 10 a.m., and finals in the same events at 5:30 p.m. Events on day two include 200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle and 400 medley relay, as well as finals for the men's one-meter diving, and prelims and finals of the women's three-meter diving.
