The Comets brought home five first-place and nine second-place finishes. A double winner was senior Courtney Mich (Bay City/Western), who took first in both diving competitions. She scored 213.15 points on the one-meter and 204.05 on the three-meter.
Other first-place finishers were junior Amy Johnson (Gaylord), 50-yard freestyle, :26.01; senior Katie Kilmartin (Wayland), 200-yard breaststroke, 2:40.06; junior Kalee Redder (Grandville/Jenison), 100-yard backstroke, 1:05.41; and junior Erin Tramper (Jenison), 100-yard breaststroke, 1:14.19.
In the 200 breaststroke, Kilmartin led a 1-2-3 Comet finish. Tramper was second, 2:41.26, followed by junior Lauren Siedlik (Livonia/Churchill), 2:41.51. Johnson recorded a pair of second-place finishes, 100-yard freestyle, :56.36; and 200-yard freestyle, 2:05.34. She also swam the anchor leg of the runner-up 400-yard freestyle relay. Joining Johnson on the relay were Redder, Sarah Boyd (Napoleon, Ohio) and Kelly Schulze (Kalamazoo/Central).
Also finishing second were Redder in the 50-yard freestyle, freshman Sara Griffith (Brighton) in the diving events and junior Heather Michalsen (Plymouth/Salem) in the 200-yard individual medley. Redder clocked-in at 26.27 seconds in the 50 free. Griffith had scores of 161.55 and 183.50 points on the one- and three-meter boards, respectively. Michalsen touched the wall in 2:23.81 in the 200 IM.
Olivet is back in action Friday, Nov. 9, for an invitational at Eastern Michigan University. Calvin College, Denison (Ohio) University and Wayne State University are also competing. Action from the Jones Natatorium in Ypsilanti gets under way at 5:30 p.m. in Ypsilanti. Results between Calvin and Olivet will be pulled to get a MIAA dual result.
