Women's swimming and diving team in fifth-place after day one of 2007 MIAA Championships
The Olivet College women’s swimming and diving team is in fifth-place after the first day of the 2007 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships at the Jenison High School Aquatic Center. The Comets have 70.5 points. Albion and Kalamazoo colleges are tied for third with 73 points. Calvin leads the way with 240.5 points.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Amy Johnson (Gaylord), Carrie Schroeder (Marshall), Jackie Taylor (Plainwell) and Kalee Redder (Grandville/Jenison) clocked-in at 1:39.90 to finish in third.
Despite an eighth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, Laura Herzog (St. Joseph) broke the school record with a time of 5:16.95. Johnson captured the consolation final of the 50-yard freestyle to place seventh. Her time was 24.63 seconds. Redder tied for third in the consolation final and was ninth-place overall with a time of 24.90 seconds. Courtney Mich (Bay City/Western) was sixth on the three-meter diving board with 338.20 points.
Johnson, Taylor, Heather Michalsen (Plymouth/Salem) and Erin Tramper (Jenison) placed fourth in the 400-yard medley relay. Their time was 4:09.27.
Action continues through Saturday with preliminaries each morning at 10 a.m., and finals each night at 6 p.m.
