Two first-half goals help Olivet shutout UM-Dearborn, 2-0
OLIVET, Mich. – Behind two first-half goals, The University of Olivet women's soccer team shutout University of Michigan-Dearborn, 2-0, this afternoon inside the Cutler Athletic Complex.

- The Comets got on the scoreboard for the first time in the 16th minute. Sophomore Taylor Facca was fouled inside the box. Senior Sophie Bradford stepped to the penalty spot, and her shot attempt found the back of the net.
- In the 21st minute, the Wolverines had a great chance to score when JuJu Kleit had a breakaway attempt, but Olivet senior goalkeeper Sarah Willard saved the shot.
- Right before halftime in the 43rd minute, Olivet extended its lead to 2-0. Freshman Ella McCormic dribbled the ball around a defender before using her left foot to rocket a shot into the goal.
- For the game, Olivet posted a 15-12 advantage in total shots, with a 9-5 edge in shots-on-goal.
- Senior Katelyn White tallied a team-leading four shots.
- McCormic added three shots.
- Willard provided the clean sheet in goal. She had nine saves.
- Today's game was the third all-time meeting between Olivet and Michigan-Dearborn in women's soccer. The Comets won the first-ever meeting at home, 5-0, on October 11, 2006. The Wolverines won the second meeting, 3-0, on September 13, 2003.
- Olivet welcomes Ohio Christian University to the Cutler Athletic Complex next Wednesday, September 4, for the first game of a soccer doubleheader at 1:30 p.m. The Comet men also play Ohio Christian after the women's game at approximately 4 p.m.
