Pablo’s goal leads women’s soccer team to 1-0 win at Saint Mary’s

College, 1-0, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest today at the Purcell Athletic Field.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – A goal by sophomore Elisabeth Perez Pablo in the third minute stood up for the remaining 87 minutes, as the Olivet College women's soccer team defeated Saint Mary's (Ind.) College, 1-0, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest today at the Purcell Athletic Field.

- Pablo's goal was the first shot of the game for either team. Sophomore Kaitlyn Halstead was credited with the assist, as her centering pass went to the feet of Pablo who then finished a shot from 10 yards into the net at the right post.
- The Belles finished the first half with a 5-2 edge in shots.
- Olivet turned up the offensive pressure in the second half and posted a 10-7 advantage in shots. That resulted in 12 shots for each team in the game.
- Senior Mary Mitchell led Olivet with four shots, including three on-goal.
- Senior Kate McElhone was next with three shots.
- Sophomore Sarah Willard earned the win in goal, as she had five saves.
- Grace Barresi tallied three of the 12 Saint Mary's shots.
- Jillian Bowen, Mary Kacynski and Abaigeal Patnode recorded two shots apiece.
- Kara Stacey suffered the loss in goal. She collected five saves.
- Olivet hosts Hope College Saturday at noon.
