OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's soccer team defeated Cleary University, 2-0, in its home-opener this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex.
- Final Score: Olivet 2, Cleary 0

- Records: Cleary 1-2-0 overall, Olivet 2-1-1 overall
- Senior Mary Mitchell put the Comets ahead 1-0 with a goal in the 22nd minute. Off a throw-in by sophomore Allie Tucker, Mitchell received the ball and turned outside the box before lofting a shot over the keeper's head from 20 yards out.
- The score remained 1-0 until the final minutes of the game when sophomore Ella Jeske scored in the 88th minute. After receiving a pass from junior Katelyn White, Jeske took a touch around the goalie and fired a shot into an empty net from 15 yards out.
- Olivet totaled 14 shots in the game.
- Mitchell topped the team with five shots.
- Senior Kate McElhone added four shots.
- In goal, sophomore Sarah Willard earned the victory, as she stopped 10 shots.
- Cleary totaled 24 shots.
- Chelsea Hendra and Sydney Huston led the way with five shots apiece.
- Four of Hendra's shots were placed on-frame.
- Kara Donaldson played the first half in goal and made three saves.
- Tara McGrath was in net for the second half and had one save.
- The Comets return to the field next Wednesday, September 14, when they host Rochester University at 2:30 p.m. The game is a part of a soccer doubleheader, as the Olivet men also play Rochester after the women's game at approximately 5 p.m.
