OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College's Chelsie Smith has earned 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District VI honors for women's soccer. She is now advances to the 2021 CoSIDA NCAA Division III Academic All-America® ballot, where three teams will be named later this month.
The criteria for nomination includes a 3.30 or higher cumulative grade point average. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and schools opting out of the season, career statistics and honors were a part of the nomination instead of season statistics.
On the soccer field, Smith was a four-year letterwinner. She started in 49-of-60 career games, with 17 points (six goals and five assists). Smith's other career statistics are 72 total shots, including 36 shots-on-goal.
Off the soccer pitch, Smith participated in several community service projects, where she made scarves, cleaned-up campus, painted bleachers and benches, and volunteered at Fern Persons Elementary School and Special Olympics Winter Games. Smith was a member of Phi Epsilon Kappa, Alpha Phi Upsilon and Global Citizen's Honors Program.
An exercise science major, Smith was named to the Olivet College President's List and Dean's List every semester, and is a four-time Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Academic Honor Roll honoree. She also was named to the Health and Human Performance Department All-Scholar Team three times, and received the Health and Human Performance Department Debra Tighe Memorial Award twice. In addition, Smith was the recipient of the Donald A. Morris Academic Excellence award for being one of the top graduating seniors and the 2021 Linda Hoover Scholastic-Achievement Award.
