SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Olivet College women's soccer team fell to Saint Mary's (Ind.) College, 3-1, this afternoon at the SMC Soccer Field in South Bend, Indiana.
The Belles scored their first goal only one minute and three seconds into the game. The score remained 1-0 after the first 45 minutes of play. The Comets tied the game at 1-1 just two minutes and eight seconds into the second half when sophomore Jordyn Mackool found the back of the net. Saint Mary's scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 65th minute and later added an insurance tally in the 79th minute.
Olivet had four shots in the game, one each from Mackool, sophomore Emily Chrzasz, junior Brooke Leach and sophomore Lauren Vanderhoff. Sophomore Deanna Zolnoski played all 90 minutes in goal, facing 17 shots and making six saves.
The Comets return to the field next Wednesday, Oct. 2, when they travel to Grand Rapids to play Calvin College at 4 p.m.
