Women’s soccer team falls 4-2 at Hope
The Olivet College women’s soccer team was defeated by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Hope College, 4-2, today at Buys Athletic Field in Holland. The two teams combined for five goals in the first 27:15 of the game.

The Olivet College women's soccer team was defeated by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Hope College, 4-2, today at Buys Athletic Field in Holland. The two teams combined for five goals in the first 27:15 of the game.
The Flying Dutch jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals in the second and fourth minutes of play. Olivet responded by scoring back-to-back goals in a span of two minutes and 19 seconds. Freshman Lizzy Julian (Mattawan) tallied an unassisted goal to make the score 2-1 at the 9:12 mark. Freshman Faith Hatt (Rochester Hills/Rochester Adams) tied the game at 2-2 with a goal off a pass from senior Kellie O'Dowd (Jackson).
Hope took a 3-2 lead when Katie Lovinger found the back of the goal in the 28th minute. Sarah Sosolik added an insurance goal for the Flying Dutch in the 74th minute.
For the game, Hope outshot the Comets, 25-9. Hatt topped Olivet with four shots, including three on-goal. Sophomore Sarah Westen (Grand Ledge) played the entire game in goal and collected 11 saves.
The Comets returns to action Saturday when they host Trine (Ind.) University at noon.
