Women's soccer team ties Huntington, 3-3
The Olivet College women’s soccer team battled back to a 3-3 double overtime draw against Huntington (Ind.) University this afternoon in Olivet.

The Olivet College women's soccer team battled back to a 3-3 double overtime draw against Huntington (Ind.) University this afternoon in Olivet.
The Comets got on the scoreboard first in the 16th minute. Senior Cori Barrera (East Lansing) sent a nice touch pass into the box, where freshman Lizzy Julian (Mattawan) was waiting for the ball. Julian snuck the ball just past the goalkeeper. The Foresters made the score 1-1 with a goal in the 37th minute. The score remained 1-1 at halftime.
Huntington took a 3-1 lead with a pair of goals, spanning less than four minutes. Olivet got the first goal back in the 65th minute. Off a free kick by senior Megan Reardon (Macomb/Chippewa Valley) from outside the box, Barrera found the back of the net with a hard shot past the keeper. The Comets forced overtime with a goal by freshman Faith Hatt (Rochester Hills/Rochester Adams) in the 78th minute. Julian was credited with an assist on the goal.
Each team had two shots in the first extra period. In the second overtime session, Julian headed a ball towards the goal but the keeper made a great save.
Olivet dominated the stat sheet in the game, out-shooting the Foresters 42-16. Julian led the Comets with 13 shots, including seven on-goal. Hatt finished with eight shots. Sophomore Amanda Loudin (Holland/Hamilton) recorded five shots. Sophomore Sarah Westen (Grand Ledge) played all 90 minutes in goal, making seven saves.
Olivet continues its non-conference game with a game Saturday at Oberlin (Ohio) College. Game time is noon.
