Women’s soccer team beats Finlandia, 10-0
The Olivet College women’s soccer team beat Finlandia University, 10-0, this morning in a non-conference game at the Olivet High School Soccer Field. The 10 goals were the most for the Comets since Oct. 19, 1998 when they had 11 against Defiance (Ohio) College.

The Olivet College women's soccer team beat Finlandia University, 10-0, this morning in a non-conference game at the Olivet High School Soccer Field. The 10 goals were the most for the Comets since Oct. 19, 1998 when they had 11 against Defiance (Ohio) College.
Playing three goalkeepers and 23 players in the field, Olivet had seven players score at least one goal and eight players tally an assist. Freshman Lizzy Julian (Mattawan) led the way with a hat trick (three goals) and one assist. Freshman Faith Hatt (Rochester Hills/Rochester Adams) finished the game with two goals and an assist for five points.
Also scoring goals were seniors Cori Barrera (East Lansing) and Kellie O'Dowd (Jackson), sophomores Amanda Loudin (Holland/Hamilton) and Christine Moulton (Royal Oak/Shrine) and freshman Danielle Mellor (Macomb/Regina). Mellor along with sophomore Katie Koralewski (Sterling Heights/Stevenson) each tallied two assists. Loudin, Moulton, sophomore Cara Underwood (Holland) and freshman Justine Zachos (Charlotte/Fowlerville) all had an assist.
For the game, the Comets took 56 shots to just two shots for the Lions. Loudin topped the team with eight shots, while Barrera and Julian had seven shots a piece. Sophomore Megan Colby (Cedar Springs) started the game in goal and played the first 28:29. Sophomore Leanne Scudder (St. Joseph/Lakeshore) played the final 16:31 of the first half and the first 16:39 of the second half. Junior Mindy Timm (Three Rivers) was the keeper for the final 28:21 of the game and recorded two saves.
Olivet hosts Huntington (Ind.) University Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m.
