The Olivet College women’s soccer team suffered a 3-2 overtime loss against Heidelberg (Ohio) College this afternoon at the Total Sports Complex in Wixom. The game was moved indoors due to the rainy weather and unplayable conditions in Olivet.

The Student Princes took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 23rd minute. The Comets tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 37th minute. Senior Katie Wolf (Marshall) took a free kick from 20 yards out. On the kick, the Heidelberg keeper could not control the ball, and freshman Lizzy Julian (Mattawan) knocked the loose ball into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal. The score remained 1-1 at halftime.
Five minutes, 20 seconds into the second half, the Student Princes scored a goal. Olivet countered with a goal in the 13th minute of the second half. Sophomore Cara Underwood (Holland) served the ball into the box, where Julian was waiting for the ball. The keeper came up to play the pass, and Julian sent a shot past the keeper and into the back of the goal.
Olivet had a couple chances to score the game-winner in regulation, but came up short. Heidelberg tallied the winning goal just three minutes, 29 seconds into overtime.
For the game, the Comets outshot the Student Princes, 22-15, including 10-7 edge in shots-on-goal. Julian led Olivet with four shots, three on-goal. Sophomores Katie Koralewski (Sterling Heights/Stevenson) and Amanda Loudin (Holland/Hamilton) each took three shots. In goal, sophomore Sarah Westen (Grand Ledge) made four saves.
The Comets return to the field Tuesday when they host Finlandia University at 1 p.m. The Olivet men will play Finlandia immediately after the women's game.
