Babcock earns 2008 Academic All-District IV honors

OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior Nicole Babcock (Three Rivers) has been named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District IV first-team for women's soccer. With the selection, she advances to the national college division Academic All-America® ballot.

Babcock, who has a 3.97 grade point average, is a double major in journalisn/mass communication and sport/recreation management. She has played in 16 games for the Comets with 10 starts and scored one goal.

Off the soccer field, Babcock is the editor of The Echo, Olivet's student newspaper, and vice president of Omicron Delta Kappa, a professional academic honor society. She is also a member of the Society of Hosford Scholars and Phi Epsilon Kappa. Babcock is also a writing tutor and was named to the 2007-08 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Academic Honor Roll.

The Academic All-America® program recognizes student-athletes who have succeeded in athletic competition and in the classroom. Members of the All-District IV teams are selected by sports information directors in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be eligible, the student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30.
