The Olivet College women's soccer team fell to Kalamazoo College, 2-1, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest today in Olivet.
The Comets (5-4-1, 0-2 MIAA) took a 1-0 lead at halftime behind a goal by junior Cori Barrera (East Lansing) in the 14th minute. From the right-side of the box, freshman Justine Nolen (Fowlerville) flicked the ball to Barrera, who sent a shot to the far post and into the empty net. Kalamazoo (5-3-1, 1-1 MIAA) tied the game in the 50th minute and scored the game-winning goal in the 58th minute.
For the game, Olivet had nine shots, while the Hornets had 19. Barrera topped the Comets with four, followed by junior Megan Reardon (Macomb/Chippewa Valley) with three. In goal, freshman Sarah Westen (Grand Ledge) tallied eight saves.
Olivet continues MIAA play Saturday when it travels to play Saint Mary's (Ind.) College at noon.
