The Olivet College women’s soccer team shut out Tri-State (Ind.) University, 3-0, today in Angola, Ind. The win snaps a three-game losing skid for the Comets.

The Olivet College women's soccer team shut out Tri-State (Ind.) University, 3-0, today in Angola, Ind. The win snaps a three-game losing skid for the Comets.
Junior Kellie O'Dowd (Jackson) scored an unassisted goal in the 11th minute. Senior Natalie Lopez (Holland/West Ottawa) found the back of the net off a pass from sophomore Nicole Babcock (Three Rivers) in the 26th minute. With just over 10 minutes left in the game, freshman Alyssa Fredrick (Holland/Black River) scored her first collegiate goal. Senior Anna Mueller (Battle Creek/Pennfield) was credited with an assist on the goal.
For the game, Olivet had a 23-8 edge in shots. Lopez finished with a game-high five shots, including four on-goal. Freshman Justine Nolen (Fowlerville) added four shots, while senior Shannah Fisher (Delton/Delton-Kellogg) and freshman Jenny Sanders (Cedar Springs) each had three shots. In goal, freshmen Sarah Westen (Grand Ledge) and Leanne Scudder (St. Joseph/Lakeshore) played the first and second half, respectively. Westen made fours saves, while Scudder collected one save.
The Comets return to the field Tuesday, Oct. 16, when they travel to play league leader Calvin College at 4 p.m.
