The Olivet College women's soccer team was defeated by Huntington University, 3-1, today in a non-conference game in Huntington, Ind.
The Comets (5-5-2) took a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 4:23 mark. Junior Cori Barrera (East Lansing) scored off an assist from freshman Justine Nolen (Fowlerville). Just 28 seconds later, the Foresters tied the game. Huntington took the lead for good with two more first-half goals. There was no scoring in the second half.
Olivet had 12 shots, including three for junior Natalie Lopez (Holland/West Ottawa). Barrera along with seniors Shannah Fisher (Delton/Delton-Kellogg) and Anna Mueller (Battle Creek/Pennfield) took two shots each. Freshman Sarah Westen (Grand Ledge) played the first half in goal and made eight saves. Freshman Leanne Scudder (St. Joseph/Lakeshore) saw action in goal during the second half and collected eight saves.
The Comets will resume their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schedule Saturday, Oct. 6, when they host Adrian College at noon.
