Four different players scored a goal, as the Olivet College women's soccer team blanked non-conference foe Davenport University, 4-0, this afternoon in Olivet.
The Comets (8-9-1) struck first at the 2:24 mark when sophomore Shannah Fisher (Delton Kellogg) put the ball into the back of the net. Sophomore Abbie Utberg (Commerce/Walled Lake Central) was credited with an assist. Freshman Megan Reardon (Macomb/Chippewa Valley) tallied an unassisted goal in the 17th minute.
With 45 seconds left before halftime, freshman Jessica Searles (Delton Kellogg) scored her first collegiate goal. Sophomore Anna Mueller (Battle Creek/Pennfield) served the ball to the feet of Searles. In the 85th minute, Mueller deposited the ball into the goal off a pass from senior Samantha Dyke (Hudsonville).
For the game, the Comets took 34 shots, including 20 on-goal. Reardon led the way with five shots. Fisher, Mueller along with juniors Ann Marie Keisic (Sterling Heights/Warren Cousino) and Stacey Stickney (St. Joseph) had four shots apiece. In goal, sophomore Bre Bath-Simonsen (Mason) faced one shot.
The Comets wrap-up their 2005 season Saturday, Nov. 5, at Calvin College at noon.
