Women’s soccer team loses to Albion 2-1 in overtime
The Olivet College women’s soccer team suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College this afternoon in Olivet.

The Olivet College women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College this afternoon in Olivet.
The Britons (7-8, 7-6 MIAA) took an early 1-0 lead on a goal in the fifth minute. The Comets (6-9-1, 6-7-1 MIAA) tied the game with 25 seconds left before halftime. Sophomore Natalie Lopez (Holland/West Ottawa) shot the ball after receiving the ball on a throw in by senior Samantha Dyke (Hudsonville). After 90 minutes of regulation play, the score was 1-1. Two minutes, 27 seconds into the overtime period, Albion scored the game-winner off a free kick.
For the game, the Britons had an 8-7 edge in shots. Lopez and sophomore Shannah Fisher (Delton-Kellogg) had two shots each. In goal, sophomore Bre Bath-Simonsen (Mason) played 90 minutes, 57 seconds and made five saves. Junior keeper Kristin Dickinson (Cadilllac) also saw action.
Olivet returns to the field Saturday, Oct. 29, when it hosts Alma College in the first game of a women's/men's soccer doubleheader. The women's game starts at noon, followed by the men's game versus Calvin College at approximately 2 p.m.
