The Olivet College women’s soccer team beat Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Kalamazoo College, 2-1, today in Kalamazoo.

Senior Katharine Hertrich (Howell) got the Comets (6-7, 6-5 MIAA) on the scoreboard with 2:35 left before halftime. Junior Stacey Stickney (St. Joseph) assisted on the goal. The Hornets (7-5-1, 6-4 MIAA) tied the game at 1-1 in the 44th minute. Sophomore Natalie Lopez (Holland/West Ottawa) tallied what proved to be the game-winner just four minutes, 37 seconds into the second half.
The Comets finished the game with a 20-7 advantage in shots. Lopez, freshman Cori Barrera (East Lansing) and junior Kelli McKee (Canton) had four shots apiece. In goal, sophomore Bre Bath-Simonsen (Mason) made three saves.
Olivet hosts Saint Mary's (Ind.) College Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 4 p.m.
