The Olivet College women’s soccer team took a season-high 25 shots and defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Tri-State (Ind.) University, 5-0, this afternoon in Olivet.

The Comets (5-7, 5-5 MIAA) scored two goals in a span of four minutes, nine seconds. Sophomore Shannah Fisher (Delton-Kellogg) tallied the first goal at the 10:10 mark. Freshmen Kellie O'Dowd (Jackson) and Megan Reardon (Macomb/Chippewa Valley) earned assists on the goal. At the 14:19 mark, freshman Cori Barrera (East Lansing) found the back of the net off passes by Fisher and freshman Katie Wolf (Marshall).
Sophomore Anna Mueller (Battle Creek/Pennfield) added an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute. With less than a minute before halftime, senior Katharine Hertrich (Howell) scored when Mueller passed the ball to junior Kelli McKee (Canton).
The last Olivet goal came in the 63rd minute. Barrera took a cross by Fisher and headed the ball into the back of the goal.
For the game, Reardon led the Comets with six shots. Barrera had five, followed by McKee and freshman Rachel Eavey (Eagle/Grand Ledge) with three apiece. Sophomore goalkeeper Bre Bath-Simonsen (Mason) faced eight shots and made six saves.
Olivet is back in action Saturday, Oct. 15 at Kalamazoo College at noon.
