The Olivet College women's soccer team opened Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with a 6-1 loss to Calvin College this afternoon in Olivet.
After the Knights (2-1, 1-0 MIAA) took a 3-0 halftime lead, the Comets (0-3, 0-1 MIAA) got on the scoreboard in the second minute of the second half. Sophomore Chrissy Jamieson (Laingsburg) took a pass from sophomore Shannah Fisher (Delton-Kellogg) and deposited the ball into the back corner of the goal. Calvin closed the scoring with three more goals in the second half.
Sophomore goalkeeper Bre Bath-Simonsen (Mason) played the entire game. She faced 28 shots, including 18 on-goal, and made 12 saves.
Olivet continues MIAA play Saturday afternoon when it hosts Adrian College at noon.
