The Olivet College women's soccer team fell to non-conference foe Buffalo State (N.Y.) College, 4-1, this afternoon in its home-opener.
The Bengals (2-0) led 1-0 at halftime and tacked on three more goals in the second half for a 4-0 advantage. The Comets (0-2) broke up the shutout when sophomore Shannah Fisher (Delton-Kellogg) scored a goal with just seven seconds left in the game. Sophomore Anna Mueller (Battle Creek/Pennfield) was credited with an assist on the goal.
For the game, Olivet collected 15 shots, including nine by Fisher. Mueller and junior Kelli McKee (St. Joseph) had two shots apiece. In goal, sophomore Bre Bath-Simonsen (Mason) started and played 81 minutes, 54 seconds. She faced 19 shots and made 10 saves.
The Comets are next in action Wednesday, Sept. 7, when they host Calvin College to open Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. Game time is 4 p.m.
