Women’s soccer team loses to Northwood, 2-1, in overtime

The Olivet College women's soccer team opened its 2005 season with a 2-1 overtime loss today at non-conference foe Northwood University in Midland.
The Comets jumped out to a 1-0 lead when sophomore forward Shannah Fisher (Delton-Kellogg) found the back of the net at the 18:29 mark. Freshman Cori Barrera (East Lansing) assisted on the goal. The Timberwolves scored the tying goal with 22:21 left in the game. Northwood tallied the winning goal with just 2:04 left in the first overtime period.
For the game, the Timberwolves outshot the Comets, 19-4. In goal, sophomore Bre Bath-Simonsen (Mason) played the entire game and made 11 saves.
Olivet is back in action Saturday, Sept. 3, when it hosts Buffalo State (N.Y.) University at noon. The game is part of a Comet women's and men's soccer doubleheader. The men's team will play Heidelberg (Ohio) College at approximately 3 p.m.
