Soccer players receive All-MIAA honors
Three Olivet College players have been named to the 2004 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women’s soccer teams.
Three Olivet College players have been named to the 2004 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women's soccer teams. Sophomore forward Stacey Stickney (St. Joseph High School) has been named to the All-MIAA first-team. Junior defender Samantha Dyke (Hudsonville High School) and junior goalkeeper Gretchen Ford (Harbor Springs High School) earned All-MIAA second-team honors.
Stickney, who was a 2003 All-MIAA second-team selection, led the Lady Comets (8-12, 6-10 MIAA) in scoring this year with 34 points (15 goals and four assists). She tied for third in the MIAA scoring race with 12 goals and three assists for 27 points. Dyke played in every game with 18 starts. Ford logged 1,099 minutes in goal and made 102 saves. She had a 2.13 goals against average.
In addition, sophomore Ann Marie Keisic (Sterling Heights/Warren Cousino High School) and freshman Natalie Lopez (Holland/West Ottawa High School) were selected to the coaches' honorable mention team. Keisic had three assists, and Lopez had six points (one goal and four assists).
In men's soccer, seniors Frank Barretta (Macomb Lutheran North High School) and Jole Wells (Lapeer West High School) and freshman Alan Holdorf (Novi High School) earned coaches' honorable mention honors.
Barretta started every game for the Fighting Comets (3-13-4, 1-12-1 MIAA) this fall. Wells played in 19 games. Holdorf topped the team in scoring with 21 points (nine goals and three assists).
