The Olivet College women's soccer team was shutout by Hope College, 7-0, this afternoon in its 2004 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener.
The Lady Comets were limited to three shots on goal, including two by sophomore forward Stacey Stickney (St. Joseph High School). Junior Gretchen Ford (Harbor Springs High School) started the game in goal and played the first 66 minutes. She allowed six goals while making 12 saves. Sophomore Dani Jacobs (Suttons Bay High School) finished the game in goal and made four saves.
Olivet will next play on Saturday, Sept. 18, when it hosts Calvin College in the first game of a women's/men's soccer doubleheader. The women's game starts at noon, followed by the Olivet men against Aurora (Ill.) University at approximately 2:30 p.m.
