Eckman selected D3wrestle.com Wrestler of the Week
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Junior Boe Eckman from The University of Olivet has been tabbed the d3wrestle.com Wrestler of the Week.
Eckman, a graduate of Constantine High School, won the 285-pound title at the Mid-States Invitational, hosted by Trine (Ind.) University. He finished the day with a 5-0 record, including four first-period pins. The falls totaled five minutes and 35 seconds to post the most falls in the least time for at the tournament.
In the first round, Eckman pinned Hunter Probasco from Ohio Northern in 55 seconds, and followed that with a 2:19 pin against Kyle Affer from Trine. He defeated teammate Landen Roe, 4-1, in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Eckman recorded a 2:02 pin against Demetrius Hernandez from Heidelberg (Ohio) University. In the championship match, he pinned Doug Byrne from Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) University in 19 seconds. Byrne is No. 5 in the NWCA Individual rankings.
Eckman has a 26-5 record this season. Of the 26 wins, he scored bonus points in 20 – 17 pins, one forfeit, one technical fall and one major decision.
The Comets are back in action Friday and Saturday, March 1-2, at the 2024 NCAA Division III Central Regional.
