Olivet College wrestling team to compete at NCAA Division III Central Regional
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College wrestling team will compete Saturday and Sunday, February 25-26, at the NCAA Division III Central Regional. Case Western Reserve (Ohio) University is hosting the regional at the Veale Center. Wrestling begins both days at 11 a.m.

The top three finishers in each of the 10 weight classes will advance to the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships March 10-11 at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, Virginia. Ferrum (Va.) College is the host school.
The regional features 20 schools – Adrian College, Albion College, Alma College, Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) University, Case Western Reserve, Defiance (Ohio) College, Heidelberg (Ohio) University, Hiram (Ohio) College, John Carroll (Ohio) University, Manchester (Ind.) University, Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) University, University of Mount Union (Ohio), Muskingum (Ohio) University, Ohio Northern University, Ohio Wesleyan University, Olivet, Otterbein (Ohio) University, Trine (Ind.) University, Wabash (Ind.) College and Wilmington (Ohio) College.
Five school are ranked in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association tournament rankings. They are No. 4 Baldwin Wallace, #11 Wabash, #13 Ohio Northern, #14 Olivet and #16 John Carroll.
This year's ranked schools composed the top five scoring teams at last year's regional. Wabash is the defending champion, followed by Baldwin Wallace in second, John Carroll in third, Ohio Northern in fourth and Olivet in fifth.
Below are the 10 Comet wrestlers expected to compete at the regional and notes on each wrestler.
- 125: Emmett Kettel – 13-11 … first at MIAA Individual Championships … second at Trine Invitational … eight bonus point wins (four pins, one technical fall, three major decisions).
- 133: Stuart Donlan – 11-10 … second at MIAA Individual Championships.
- 141: Dylan Phelps – 7-12 … second at Ohio Northern Polar Bear Invitational.
- 149: Tyler Herrema – 19-8 … All-MIAA … first at MIAA Individual Championships … second at Trine Invitational and Ohio Northern Polar Bear Invitational … 11 bonus point wins (eight major decisions, two pins, one technical fall).
- 157: Ramiro Guerrero – 18-15 … six bonus point wins.
- 165: Kam Bush – 15-8 … All-MIAA … transfer from Central Michigan University … second at Trine Invitational … eight bonus point wins (three pins, five major decisions).
- 174: Owen Guilford – 15-7 … three-time All-MIAA … 2022 MIAA Most Valuable Wrestler … first at Ohio Northern Invitational … 11 bonus point wins (seven pins, one technical fall, three major decisions) … fourth at 2022 NCAA Regional.
