The criteria for this award includes grade-point average, extracurricular activities, community service, and athletics.

"Because of his character, hard work, and unwavering positivity Zach was selected as our third and final captain this season, despite having never been a full-time starter," said Olivet head coach Brandon Brissette. "He brings his Christian and team values into every part of his life. Regardless of the setting: classroom, coaching, service, work, practicing or competing, he will connect fully in that moment and with those people. His love for people is tangible and those he is with always know he has their success equally as high as his own. He will leave a legacy of love with our team and we are excited to see that grow in his future endeavors."
