Six bonus-point wins help wrestling team defeat Trine, 37-4
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College wrestling team won nine-of-10 bouts to win a 37-4 decision over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Trine (Ind.) University tonight at the Cutler Event Center.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College wrestling team won nine-of-10 bouts to win a 37-4 decision over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Trine (Ind.) University tonight at the Cutler Event Center.

- Of the nine bout victories, Olivet scored bonus points in six.
- The seven bonus-point wins consisted of three major decisions, two technical falls and one pin.
- The Comets outscored the Thunder 110-40 in match points.
- At 125 pounds, freshman Isaiah Mullins was taken down early in the match but quickly scored the reversal and later a four-point near-fall in the first period. Mullins continued to pile up the points in the second and third periods, with the riding time point at the end giving him a 17-0 technical fall win.
- At 133 pounds, sophomore Stuart Donlan scored early and often to win a 14-1 major decision.
- At 141 pounds, junior Dylan Phelps dropped an 11-2 decision.
- At 149 pounds, sophomore Tyler Herrema got an escape and takedown in the final seconds of the first period to go up 3-2 and eventually won a 9-4 decision.
- At 157 pounds, sophomore Ramiro Guerrero rallied from a 6-0 deficit to post a 13-0 decision. He had two reversals, a two-point near-fall and a four-point near-fall in the match.
- At 165 pounds, senior Kam Bush scored four takedowns, an escape and riding time point to win 12-2.
- At 174 pounds, senior Owen Guilford won an 16-0 technical fall at 3:28. His points were a takedown and two four-point near-falls in the first period, followed by a takedown and four-point near-fall early in the second period.
- At 184 pounds, junior Justin Carnahan needed the riding time point at the end of the match for a 15-7 major decision victory.
- At 197 pounds, senior Hiram Robinson hung for a 6-4 win. The difference in the match were two takedowns in the first period.
- At 285 pounds, junior Donovan King pinned his opponent with 22 seconds left in the match.
- The Comets are off until next Thursday, January 19, when they host Albion College. Match time is 7 p.m.
