Guilford and King win titles, wrestling team finishes third at Ohio Northern Polar Bear Invitational
ADA, Ohio – Led by individual titles from senior Owen Guilford and junior Donovan King, the Olivet College wrestling team took third-place today at the 41st Annual Ohio Northern University Polar Bear Invitational today at the ONU Sports Center.

ADA, Ohio – Led by individual titles from senior Owen Guilford and junior Donovan King, the Olivet College wrestling team took third-place today at the 41st Annual Ohio Northern University Polar Bear Invitational today at the ONU Sports Center.
- Olivet had 16 wrestlers finish in the top eight of his respective weight class. The Comets totaled 155.5 points to finish behind the host Polar Bears (198.5) and Lycoming (155.5). Rounding out the top five teams were Adrian College in a distant fourth (91.0) and Otterbein (Ohio) University (90.5).
- Guilford captured the 174-pound title. After receiving a bye in the first round, he pinned Declan Jewitt from Otterbein (Ohio) University in the first period at 1:10. Guilford then posted a 19-2 technical fall over Montavious Yearby from Heidelberg (Ohio) University in the quarterfinals. He won a 12-2 major decision over Owen Frizzell from Heidelberg in the semifinals. Guilford pinned Alex Hobbs from Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) University in 2:29 of the championship match.
- King won the 285-pound title in dominating fashion. He pinned his first two opponents, Robert West from Lycoming (Pa.) College in 2:51 and Hunter McNay from Mount St. Joseph in 1:48. He posted a 16-0 technical fall over Jadon Brownlee from Ohio Northern in the quarterfinals before pinning Joe Shoup from Ohio Wesleyan at 1:18 in the semifinals. In the championship match, King pinned John Fulmer from Lycoming in 4:31. Over the five matches, he outscored his opponents, 43-4, with the four points allowed being two escapes and one takedown.
- Junior Dylan Phelps was the runner-up finisher at 141 pounds. He pinned his first-round opponent in 56 seconds before winning 13-4 in the quarterfinals and 7-1 in the semifinals. Phelps fell to Jacob Reed from Ohio Northern, 4-1, in the championship match.
- Sophomore Tyler Herrema placed second at 149 pounds. To reach the championship match, he pinned his first-round opponent, won a 14-4 major decision in the second round, pinned his opponent in the quarterfinals and won 7-3 in the semifinals. In the first-place bout, Herrema was pinned by Chase Sumner from Ohio Northern.
- Sophomore Robert Davids finished fourth at 141 pounds. He began his day with a first-period pin and technical fall. After losing his quarterfinal match, Davids rebounded with three minor decision victories (6-1, 12-6 and 7-2). He was unable to wrestle the third-place match due to having wrestled five matches on the day.
- Finishing in fifth-place were freshman Isaiah Mullins at 125 pounds, sophomore Jay Shaull at 149 pounds and freshman Jonathen Davis at 165 pounds.
- Placing sixth were freshman Emilio Cabrera at 133 pounds, junior Christian Lenon at 149 pounds, junior Mitchell Reynolds at 165 pounds, sophomore Kody Krupp at 197 pounds and sophomore Boe Eckman at 285 pounds. Eckman had one of the best days with four straight pins in 36 seconds, 20 seconds, 1:16 and 3:34.
- Eighth-place performances were turned in by sophomore Stuart Donlan at 133 pounds, senior Zach Potter at 165 pounds and junior Trevor Briggs at 197 pounds.

- Olivet hosts Cleary University and Henry Ford College for a triangular next Thursday, December 8, starting at 6 p.m. The order of the matches is Cleary vs. Henry Ford, Henry Ford vs. Olivet, and Cleary vs. Olivet.
