Wrestling team competes at MCC Ben McMullen Open and MSU Open
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College wrestling team split its squad, with some wrestlers competing at the Muskegon Community College Ben McMullen Open and other wrestlers competing at the Michigan State University Open.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College wrestling team split its squad, with some wrestlers competing at the Muskegon Community College Ben McMullen Open and other wrestlers competing at the Michigan State University Open.
- Sophomore Stuart Donlan finished second in the 133-pound bracket. He earned an 11-4 win in his first match and pinned Thomas Miller from Trine (Ind.) University in the semifinals. Donlan fell 9-2 to Gabe Livingston from Southwestern Michigan Community College in the championship match.
- Sophomore Emmett Kettel placed third in the 125-pound bracket. He won his first two matches by decision (7-2 and 6-1) before dropping a 2-1 decision in the semifinals. Kettel bounced back to pin his opponent in his first consolation bracket match and then won 12-2 over Matt Perez from University of Chicago (Ill.) in the third-place match.
- After losing his first match, freshman Darren McLeod came back to win four straight matches to take third in the 149-pound bracket. His four wins were a 6-3 decision, 12-3 major decision, 1:25 pin and 4-1 decision over Ray Woodall from Southwestern Michigan Community College in the third-place match.
- Sophomore Thomas Lear had a 3-2 record to finish fourth in the 141-pound bracket. After getting pinned in his first match, he had two first-period pins (0:57 and 0:52) and a second-period pin (3:27). Lear was pinned by Caeleb Ishmael from Southwestern Michigan Community College in the third-place match.
- Many of the wrestlers competing at the Michigan State Open were from NCAA Division I schools. There were a couple NCAA Division II schools, and Olivet was the only NCAA Division III school.
- Sophomore Ramiro Guerrero finished sixth in the freshman/sophomore 157-pound bracket.
- Olivet participates in the Trine (Ind.) University Invitational next Saturday, November 12.
