Olivet College’s King seeded seventh at 2022 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Olivet College sophomore Donovan King has received the seventh seed in the 285-pound bracket at the 2022 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship March 10-11 at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Olivet College sophomore Donovan King has received the seventh seed in the 285-pound bracket at the 2022 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship March 11-12 at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
As the No. 7 seed, King will face Jake Peavey from the University of Southern Maine in the first round. The winners and losers of the match will wrestle against the winners and losers of the match between No. 2 seed Kaleb Reeves from Coe (Iowa) College and Addison Boisvert from Roger Williams (R.I.) University.
King placed second at the NCAA DIII Central Regional to earn his first trip to the national championship. He enters the event with a 14-2 record in 2021-22. Of his 14 wins, 11 have been pins. Nine of the pins have been in the first period, including four in under one minute. King's lone losses were a 7-6 decision to an unranked wrestler and a 2-1 decision to top-seed Max Bishop from Wabash (Ind.) College in the regional championship match.
Peavey was the runner-up at the NCAA DIII North Regional. He carries a 25-3 record into the national championship. Twelve of his wins have been by fall.
