Wrestling team crowns six weight class champions at 2022 MIAA Individual Championship
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College wrestling team crowned six individual weight class champions at the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship, held today inside the Cutler Event Center. In addition to the six champs, 10 Comets finished either second-, third- or fourth-place.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College wrestling team crowned six individual weight class champions at the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship, held today inside the Cutler Event Center. In addition to the six champs, 10 Comets finished either second-, third- or fourth-place.
- Sophomore Dylan Phelps had the easiest route to an individual title, as he won his only match, 5-3, in the 133-pound bracket.
- Senior Reese Wallis posted a 2-0 record to win the 141-pound bracket. His wins were a pin in the first period at 1:48 and an 8-0 major decision.
- Freshman Ramiro Guerrero won back-to-back major decisions, 21-8 and 12-4, for the win at 157 pounds.
- Senior Dylan Briggs had a 3-0 record to capture the 165-pound title. His wins were a second-period pin at 3:22, a 15-0 technical fall and 8-3 decision.
- Junior Owen Guilford also tallied a 3-0 record for the win at 174 pounds. He pinned his first-round opponent in 58 seconds and followed that with a 16-0 technical fall in the semifinals and a 9-0 major decision in the championship match.
- Sophomore Justin Carnahan recorded two first period pins at 2:20 and 2:25, and 5-3 decision to take first-place at 184 pounds.
- Finishing in second-place were freshman Tyler Herrema at 141 pounds, sophomore Christian Lenon at 149 pounds and junior Hiram Robinson at 184 pounds.
- Posting third-place finishes were freshman Jay Shaull at 141 pounds, junior Jerry Hall at 157 pounds, senior Liam Kinjorski at 174 pounds and sophomore Donovan King at 285 pounds.
- Taking fourth-place were senior Channing Perry at 157 pounds, sophomore Michael Minne at 197 pounds and senior Dominick Wilson at 285 pounds.
- The Comets compete next Sunday, February 6, at the 2022 MIAA Dual Meet Championships. Trine (Ind.) University is the host school and action starts at 10 a.m.
